The Indian Army effectively retaliated to unprovoked small arms fire initiated by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) on the night of April 27-28. The firing occurred in areas opposite Kupwara and Poonch districts in Jammu and Kashmir (J-K), officials confirmed. Indian troops responded swiftly and with precision to the violation.
Earlier, on the night of April 26-27, the Pakistan Army had also violated the ceasefire, initiating small arms fire in the Tutmari Gali and Rampur sectors. Once again, Indian forces responded effectively with appropriate small arms fire.
These incidents come amid rising tensions along the LoC, particularly following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals. In response to these ongoing threats, security forces in Kashmir have intensified anti-terror operations.
In a separate development, security forces in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, in collaboration with the Army and CRPF, successfully apprehended two terrorist associates. The suspects, Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Mohd Ismail Bhat, were arrested after a routine checkpoint operation at Matalhama Chowk Thokerpora, Qaimoh. A search of their belongings led to the recovery of two pistols, magazines, and ammunition. The arrested individuals are currently under investigation.
